Google Analytics is a powerful tool that allows you to analyze your website traffic.
This allows establishing:
- The number of people who visit your site
- Geographical source of visitors
- The time spent by a visitor in your site
- Keywords used to reach your site
- And a bunch of other things ...
In this article we will help you to open your account. It’s essential to understand the performance of your website on a daily basis and those data points as points of improvement.
To do this it is essential to follow some bases that are important to know if your site is in "good health". This requires particularly to know the number of visits, the conversion rate (especially for an E-commerce website), or the keywords used by the visitor to find you (to see if they are related with those you use in your site’s content).
So I strongly suggest you to open a Google Analytics account. On top it's free and easy to set up. If you do not have already an account, follow the steps below:
Step 1
Go to
Google Analytics website and click on "Access Analytics" (if you do
not have a Google account, click "Create an account now ".
Step 2
Fill out
the form; enter website’s URL name, account name, time zone and territory. If
you intend to have multiple sites, you can give different names to your account
to better differentiate your stats thereafter.
Later,
Google will ask you if you want to share data with other products such as
AdWords, AdSense and Webmaster Tools. This is optional, you can uncheck the
boxes, but these tools are complementary, more data are shared among tools,
better is your understanding and interaction.
Step 3
Click "Add Tracking ID" (after reading and accepting the Terms), you will receive a unique tracking ID and tracking code.
Step 4
Once you have you tracking ID, simply log into your WebSelf site then login and go to the "WebSte’s statistics" section (available only to people who subscribed to one of 3 Plans WebSelf). At the bottom of the page you will see a champ to insert your tracking ID. Simply paste your code and click on the disk to save it.
Step 5
Once you have done this and put your site online, your stats are ready to be harvested. But you need to wait a few days before they appear on Google Analytics. Remember when consulting the data, you need to select the time period you want to cover so that Google Analytics can provide you with the data.
